The Reagan course fair was pretty interesting although I kind of thought it was a waste of time to start talking about high school in our first nine weeks of middle school. First they just took us into the auditorium and gave us a run through of the four year class plan that we would have to take in all of our high school years. They also told us about the foreign language requirements of the state which is two years of the same language. After a very long lecture about regular and pre-ap courses we found our way to the lunch room were they were running an elective course fair. There was a section for languages such as German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and sign language. A section was also dedicated to shop classes and computer and video science classes including web design, robotics, and advanced movie making. There was also a section for prominent electives such as band, choir, debate, and orchestra. I was able to meet many of my friends in there and ask them about what electives they were thinking of taking in the ninth grade. After we finished, I was so bogged down by packets and pamphlets that we could barely keep them straight. I had a lot of trouble finding the science class presentation and ended up exploring two whole wings of the school before finding my way to the Wyoming hall. I went through a presentation about the difference between regular science and pre-ap science. We decided that we had heard enough after that and found our way back to the parking lot and left. The Reagan fair was pretty confusing but interesting at some points. |
